FRED A. QUINTANA, 87, a resident of Truth or Consequences, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tito and Maria Quintana; brothers, Celestino (Tino), Arturo, and Roberto Quintana; sisters, Grace Chavez, Dolores Martinez, Tomasita (Tommie) Ortiz, and Nora Valdez; nephews, Johnny Martinez, Mark Valdez and Stevie Quintana; nieces, Joann Riley and Anna Valdez. He served in WWII and received an Honorable Discharge. He later became a certified watch maker/repairer. He enjoyed traveling, and flying radio controlled airplanes. He is survived by his son, Jerome and wife Theresa Quintana; granddaughters, Raylynn and Gabrielle Quintana all of Española; sister-in-law, Rose Quintana of Santa Cruz, brother in-law Celso Ortiz of Espanola; lifelong friend, Lora Shilling of Independence, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Rudy and Raymond Romero of Albuquerque, David Romero of Las Lunas, Tito Ortiz of Espanola, Roberta Valencia of Albuquerque, Matilda Anaya of Las Lunas, Judy Gutierrez and Jeanette Martinez both of Albuquerque, Elsie and Manuel Valdez of Velarde, Freddie and Sally Quintana of Riverside, California, MaryLou and Patrick Apodaca of Española, Bobbie and Cathy Quintana of Chamita, Phillip, Marie and Elsie Martinez, Cindy Kilman, Christine Martinez, Lorraine and Penny Quintana and Harold Valdez of Albuquerque; self-proclaimed adopted daughter, Tammy and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Bobby Quintana, Manuel Valdez, Raymond Romero, Chris Maes, Art Quintana and Elmo Sanchez.
