Frances Cottrell

Frances Cottrell, age 87, a resident of Fairview, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 following a lengthy illness. Ms. Cottrell was preceded in death by her husband, James Cottrell; son, John Cottrell; father and mother, Silviano Montoya and Esquipula Montoya Romero; step-father, Margarito Romero; sister, Isabel Abeyta; brother in law, Charles Abeyta; and brother in law, Larry Maez. Frances was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, always being very active. She always attended prayer groups. She loved her flowers at home and enjoyed going out to eat with her neighbors and friends. Frances is survived by her brothers and sisters, Juan Montoya and wife Anja from Sacramento, CA, Horacio Montoya of Espanola, Lora Maez of Nambe, Eva Gurule and husband Levi of Espanola, and half-sister, Adela Martinez; favorite nephew, Randy Gurule; favorite friends and neighbors, Janelle and Bill Schultz of Fairview; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
