Don Milligan , 82, of Los Alamos, died peacefully on February 1, 2020. He was born to Pete and Mary Milligan in Kansas City, Missouri, the youngest of three children. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Worth; sister, Anna L.; son, Daniel and beloved wife, Sally. As a United States Navy Veteran (Korean War), Don was very passionate about helping veterans. After his honorable discharge, Don worked for General Dynamics on the Atlas project before coming to Los Alamos and beginning his career as an engineer. He worked for the Laboratory for many years in different capacities. Don was very generous and would do everything to help people in need. Don was a long-time member of the Atomic City Corvette Club, and enjoyed nothing more than embarrassing his grandson by playing “409” by the Beach Boys at max volume while cruising in his ‘Vette with the top down. Don loved his family and was incredibly proud of all of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He enjoyed nothing more than having his family and friends around him, which they were until the end. Don is survived by his children, Mike (Brita), Tim (Tammy), Kelly, and Christy (Bruce), as well as his 9 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A private burial will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation is made to any charity supporting veterans. The family of Don Milligan has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
