Celia Lujan

Celia G. Lujan , age 91, a resident of Nambe passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elisandro Nestor Lujan; grandson, Kevin Chavez; parents, Frank and Beatrice Giron; brothers, Pedro, Benigno, and Arturo Giron; sisters, Mary Maestas, Vera Lujan, and Rosina Gallegos; father and mother-in-law, Celedon and Nestora Lujan; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Gallegos, Phillip Guillen, Feliciano, Ramos, Gustavo, and Speaker Ben Lujan; sisters-in-law, Arabella Jiron, Olivia Romero, Josie Baca, and Thelma Montoya; nephews, Edward Vigil, Bobby Guillen, Claudio Pena, Reyes Romero, Larry and Sammy Lujan; niece, Christina Roybal. Celia was born on January 15, 1927 to Frank and Beatrice Giron. She was a devoted Catholic and lived a life close to God. She always kept her faith in the Lord and was a member of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Valle de Pojoaque Catholic Church. She was a very hard worker and great homemaker. Our mother will forever be known for her amazing tamales, red chile, tortillas, sopa, biscochitos, and empanadas.  She took pride in her garden of chile, and many vegetables she planted. She took pride in keeping her yard free of weeds and snow during the winter; and was always there to help her in-laws with the farm and animals. Celia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and neighbor. She was married 55 years to the late, Elisandro Nestor Lujan. She is survived by her daughters, Marcella O’Donley and husband Rudy, Gloria Chavez and husband Felix; sons, Danny Lujan and companion Pamela Pacheco, and Robert Lujan; brother, Juan Jiron; sister, Lorraine Abraham; brother-in-law, Ernesto Lujan and wife Carrie; sisters-in-law, Matilda Guillen, Carmen Lujan, Louise Giron, and Evelyn Giron; grandsons, Shane O’Donley and DJ Lujan; granddaughters, Kristin Chavez and companion Fernando Trujillo, Kamille Chavez and fiancée Chris Sanchez; great-granddaughters, Destiny O’Donley, and Aaliyah Chavez; great-grandsons, Logan O’Donley and Baby Sanchez; God-son, Sonny Lujan; God-daughters, Rose Ellen Guillen, Maria Teresa Pacheco, and Paula Ewy and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Burial to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Robert Vigil, Paul Gallegos, Larry Valencia, Rudy Herrera, DJ Lujan, and Chris Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are the many children she cared for over the past 35 years. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Celia’s name. A very special and sincere thank you to the following; Berlina Herrera, Aunt Carmen Lujan, David Ortiz, Gloria Silva, Fernando Trujillo, Doreen Lopez, Gail and Rudy Herrera, Mesha Delgado, Frances Romero, Rose Ellen Guillen, Pamela Pacheco and Brenda Pacheco. The family of Celia G. Lujan has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
