Brian Thompson died January 29, 2019 at the age of 68. He was born in Indiana, the only child of Earl and Florine Thompson. Brian earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in English and world history. In 1972 Brian and wife Carol moved to Espanola, where both worked for McCurdy Mission School. Brian spent 13 years teaching high school language arts and social studies before working at Los Alamos National Laboratory for more than 25 years. After retirement, Brian served the community on the Land Use Commission, as a literacy volunteer and in various roles at his church. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Rachel and Michelle, and granddaughters Elaine and Emma. A memorial service will be held on February 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Valley View United Methodist Church in Espanola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
