Claudinia (Claudia) A. Giron, a resident of La Mesilla, NM was called to be with her Heavenly Father on January 5, 2019. Claudia was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. Claudia loved dancing and enjoyed going for rides to see God’s beauty. She was full of life and always opened up her heart and home to all those who came near her. Claudia was born in Vallecitos, NM on January 8th, 1935 where she later met the love of her life, Eduardo (Eddie) Giron, Jr. It was not long before they married and moved to Garland, TX where they lived for seven years. Upon their return to NM, Claudia worked as a cook for the Espanola Schools and Los Alamos Medical Center for most of her career. Claudia, Eddie and their children managed the San Pedro Gas-a-mat for several years. Claudia also worked various other places, such as Nambe Mills, Kmart, the NM Legislature and Options where she cared for others many of whom were younger than her. Claudia loved her family dearly and loved everything about life. Claudia often mentioned that this was her Heaven. She received her GED at the age of 61 while attending school to perfect her weaving. Her weaving became her therapy after losing her daughter, Dianna, son, Alex, husband, Eddie, and mother Celia. She sold many of her rugs (her “Jergas” as she would call them) at many local art shows and galleries in Chimayo, Truchas and Canyon Rd. Claudia was filled with compassion, love and life. She taught her children and grandchildren the meaning of family, faith, love, strength, courage, hard work and acceptance. Claudia is survived by her daughters, Cathy Giron, Edwina and Lonnie Sanchez, son-in-law, Jose F. Rodriguez, grandchildren Lonny Rodriguez and Eleanor Pedro, Pammy Rodriguez, Diane Rodriguez and Joseph Baca, Anna Maria Rodriguez, Jose Eduardo and Rebecca Rodriguez, Christine Bustos, Alannah Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, and Desirae Lujan, great-grandchildren, Meaghan Baca and Kyle Lynch, Silas Thompson, Derek, Dylan, Julia and Gemma Rodriguez, siblings Joe (Gudo) and Theresa Gurule, Elevi and Eva Gurule, Betty Martinez, Ross and Margie Gurule and Vivian and Wayne Covert, and other special family members Sharon Busch, Shannon, Jerome, Kylea and Alycia Lujan, along with several fond and loving nieces, nephews, family and friends and Claudia’s loving companion dog, “Viejo”.
